We all have our vices. Whether it's drinking too much, smoking, a poor diet or physical inactivity.

However, this bit of news may get some couch potatoes up and moving! Unhealthy habits like sitting around all day could shave up to six years off of your life.

According to a new Canadian study published in the journal PLOS Medicine, a research team found smoking is the worst thing you could be doing.

More than 26 percent of all deaths in Canada between 2009-2010 were linked to smoking, while 24 percent were attributable to physical inactivity.

When it came to what we shove in our faces while lounging around, 12 percent of deaths were linked to a poor diet.

The statistics serve as a warning to people around the world to exercise and be active.

On the flip side, researchers found that people who didn't engage in these unhealthy behaviors had a life expectancy 17.9 years greater than their unhealthy counterparts.

The study's lead author, Dr. Doug Manuel, a senior scientist at the Ottawa Hospital and his team even created an online calculator called Project Big Life so Canadians can estimate their own life expectancy.
