The purebred Maine Coon that reached Instagram fame under the pseudonym Catstradamus, weighs 28 pounds and measures approximately 42 inches long.

While the 4-year-old kitty weighs so much bypassers can often be heard yelling, "Holy sh*t, is that a cat?" his owner, Johnathan "Splurt" Zurbel, 42, insists Samson reached his gargantuan size naturally.

"He's a very healthy, strong cat," Zurbel told InsideEdition.com. "He's not fat or overweight; he's just a big boy."

He estimates that because Samson is about three times the size of an average cat, he eats about three times the amount of food, and uses three times the amount of kitty litter in the litter box.

"Everything is bigger," said Zurbel, who works as a DJ.

Zurbel said Samson originally belonged to his brother, but Samson grew attached to Zurbel over time and eventually came to live with him.

"It's challenging at times, but I have a fair amount of space for him," Zurbel said. "He has a little cabana set up in my room. He always finds a place to hang out and chill. He used to climb up the tree, but he got too heavy."

As Samson grew, Zurbel said he had to start looking for bigger equipment and ventured into the dog section — although, he said, dog collars and harnesses don't quite fit the giant cat properly.

Soon, suspecting Samson was on his way to becoming the largest cat in New York, Zurbel approached veterinarians in the area with his cat's measurements. No other veterinarian reported a bigger cat.

He even took to Catstradamus' Instagram page, and asked anyone to comment if they knew of a bigger cat. No one came forward.

"He just happened to grow a bit outside [the range]," he joked.

But, Zurbel insisted that his giant kitty is just like any other house cat in the world.

When the feline isn't lounging on the balcony, he can often be spotted jumping and playing.

A couple times a month, Zurbel said he loads the kitty in his stroller, and takes him on a walk around the neighborhood where he enjoys breathing in the outdoor air, and fooling around with pigeons.

"I don't want to keep him all for myself," Zurbel said. "He's too beautiful."
