Besides rolling around in your expensive sheets, there is a real reason Fido wants to crawl in bed with you. Dogs are pack animals who sleep together for warmth and protection. When a dog tries to sleep with it's human family, that's a way of saying that they trust you to protect them while they are sleeping and that they want to keep you warm.
Don't feel badly if you leave for work and your dog acts like he or she couldn't care at all. It's actually a good sign! Your dog trusts that you will be back and doesn't have separation anxiety.

An after-meal cuddle isn't a thank you for the kibble, it's actually a genetically programmed response to your pet's wild pack dog ancestry. Curling up with you after a meal is a sign that your dog considers you part of the pack.
Take a moment to play when your puppy brings you a toy. Since toys are a big part of their lives, bring you a toy is the equivalent of people giving each other gifts. A few minutes of play is the best way to say "thank you."
