Plus-size women aren't often celebrated on social media for their selfies, but one model and blogger hopes to change that.

Simone Mariposa, a 23-year-old from Los Angeles, created a body positive movement on Twitter to inspire women to feel comfortable flaunting their clothes.

She told BuzzFeed news she started the hashtag #WeWearWhatWeWant after seeing a story about a plus-size girl who felt uncomfortable in her clothes because of harassment on Twitter.

Mariposa said this is not something that is unfamiliar for plus-size women at all, and it can "take a big toll on one's self-esteem."

She said this was something she herself struggled with, until everything changed.

"I stopped letting society dictate my wardrobe, and starting wearing things that I always dreamed of wearing that made me feel beautiful," she told BuzzFeed News.

"The fat woman's experience is rarely addressed and discussed, because we are often stripped of our humanity."

Soon, her friends suggested she start a hashtag. And she did.

People started joining in:

They all look amazing and we hope this is a trend that happens regularly.
