Adrenaline is a high many humans are completely addicted to. From skydiving to attempting to break physically-deteriorating world records, many find pleasure in disregarding human survival instinct and risking their lives for thrills. Some of the foods you are about to be exposed to are considered delicacies in different parts of the world. Their only downfall is they are unanimously deadly.
1) Fugu fish
Fugu is a Japanese delicacy, compromised of specially prepared pufferfish. Chefs are required to have YEARS of training to aquire a license to make fugu. There is a poison in the liver, intestines, and ovaries that is thousands of times more deadly than cyanide. Fugu sashimi, anyone?
2) Ackee fruit
Ackee is Jamaica's national fruit. When ackee fruit is not ripe, it contains a poisonous toxin called hypoglycin. If not prepared and eaten properly, it may cause vomiting and even death. Talk about a killer fruit...
Cassava can produce cyanide when prepared incorrectly. You might actually have one of its products your refrigerator. Cassava produces the starchy nectar we all know as tapioca. So next time you go for that tapioca pudding at the grocery store, b e w a r e.
4) Blood clams
Raw blood clams have been linked to Gastroenteris, an influenza like sickness. They have also been known to host Hepititis A, which impacts the liver. Feelin' clammy yet?
Rhubarb has concentrations of oxalate, which may cause poisoning when consumed in large quantities. So enjoy your pie... but not too much.
Extreme gastrointestinal reactions may occur if you ingest large quantities of nutmeg. This includes nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.
Watch out for those green sprouts!! They may contain solanine, a very toxic substance. Eating them can cause poisoning. Potato, poisato.
Sannakji is live octopus that is cut into bite size pieces. Tentacles can attach to your throat, making it a dangerous choking hazard.
