This pale pink coat from Reiss is reminiscent of the ones we saw on Houghton's latest runways.

"Clemence" cropped leather biker jacket, $895, Reiss

This thinner jacket is an obvious choice for a fashion-forward bride who likes to play with the lines of casual and formal. Only you will know it's as soft and cozy as your favorite hoodie.

Asymmetric villous sweatshirt jacket, $230, Helmut Lang available at Bloomingale's

Baby, it might be cold outside, but you still want to show off that dress. This cropped rabbit fur jacket still manages to keep you warm while you flaunt your figure.

"Talia" rabbit fur chubby, $998, Diane von Furstenberg available at Bloomingale's

Snuggly faux shearling is a perfect pick for a more bohemian bride. Drape this oversized cream coat over your shoulders and forget about the chill in the air.

Oversized cream shearling coat, $111, LuLu's

Go for the drama with this silky pink duster. With a high shine pearlescent finish, it feels very Old Hollywood and, of course, is evening appropriate.

Crinkle satin duster in pink, $90, Topshop

This polished and chic design has chevron-patterned sleeves to add interest and keep your arms cozy in your sleeveless dress.

Wool sweater sleeve coat, $745, Vince

The perfectly draped lapels on this pretty blush coat complete a polished wedding-day look. Even better, it looks just as good open with a full-skirt dress as it does cinched closed with something form fitting.

Wool blend flyaway coat, $229, Calvin Klein

Who doesn't love a good bow? The detailing on this coat is perfect for a special occasion. Show it off with an updo.

"Dorothy" bow coat, $488, Kate Spade

Are ultra-feminine things not your style? Cover up with a boxy boyfriend coat like this one. The masculine shape is dolled up with oversized silver buttons glistening on fuzzy sand wool.

"Miss Molly" textured overcoat, $298, Free People

If you're an urban bride who favors minimalist styles, clean lines and satin slip dresses — this cape blazer hybrid is the cover-up for you.

One of the coolest trends on the Fall 2015 bridal runways? Coats and cover-ups. This is great news for the conundrum winter brides face: brave chilly temperatures to show off your dream dress or stay warm? You shouldn't have to freeze for style. Instead, pick a topper that enhances your look and adds another interesting layer to your photos.

At Houghton's latest bridal show, they paired wedding-day looks with rabbit-fur-trimmed motorcycle jackets, creating a Carrie Bradshaw-meets-Bianca Jagger cool vibe, while Theia introduced floor-skimming overcoats that proved a little drama goes a long way. Delphine Manivet also tried the trend, showing ladylike, '20s-inspired toppers paired with girly gowns. In other words, it's totally okay to think outside the box when it comes to your big-day style - especially if you're marrying during the colder months.

Coats featuring luxe fabrics like fur, shearling, lace and sequins are all fair game if they suit your style. You can also try adding special details like bows or embroidery if you want a touch of flare. Looking for something more classic? Rock a polished shrug, cardigan, boyfriend jacket, shearling coat or blazer in a bridal tone like white and metallic as well as blush, pink and baby blue.

The best part about wearing an extra layer on your wedding day? You're guaranteed to wear the topper after you tie the knot.
