Here's how you can finally catch Ditto in 'Pokémon Go'
LONDON — Pokémon Go fans, rejoice: after nearly five months of searching, Ditto — that little blob dude who can transform into other Pokémon — has finally been discovered.
Okay, so a small caveat — Ditto, who has long been a mysterious absence in the game, isn't just a very good hider. He was only actually added recently.
After the most recent app update over the weekend, The Silph Road did a data mine and discovered that code relating to the elusive critter had been added to the game. On Tuesday, they discovered that his trademark move — Transform — had been activated.
It wasn't long before sightings of captured Dittos began to pop up on Twitter and Reddit...
From the sounds of it, Ditto is more a Pokémon that you stumble across rather than one you necessarily track down.
People sharing screengrabs of their captures and discussing the new Pokémon on Reddit all have a similar story; you catch what you think is another random Pokémon — Pidgey, Rattata, etc. — and after it's safely ensconced in your ball a little "Oh?" message pops up.
Seconds later, the screen goes purple and the creature transforms into Ditto.
And look, here he is in all his smiley glory, facing off against another Ditto at the gym.
For more information on Ditto — including spawns and battling — there's a pretty thorough thread on Reddit here.
In a nutshell, though, it sounds as though Ditto is now available worldwide, and can pop up in the same way any normal Pokémon spawns — the only difference is, he'll be in disguise."
