These grocery stores will be closed for Thanksgiving 2019

It's inevitable -- after weeks of prepping and planning for a massive Thanksgiving feast for friends and family members, you realize that you forgot to pick up something from the grocery store.

Holiday hours can be tricky, with some big name retailers and chains not even opening at all.

Whether you're a last-minute kind of person or realize you let one or two ingredients slip through the cracks, it's nice to know that in the event of a turkey day emergency, you'll have somewhere you can pop in and shop.

If you're a regular at cult-favorite stores like Whole Foods and Trader Joe's, you might be out of luck when it comes to Thursday's holiday.

Other popular chains will be operating during select hours depending on where they're located.

Opens at 5 p.m. Thanksgiving Day for Black Friday deals, closes at 1 a.m. and reopens Friday at 7 a.m.
Dollar General
open, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Safeway
Mid-Atlantic stores will be open at their normal times, but all stores close at 7 p.m. 

Kroger
