Popeyes announces the return of its wildly popular chicken sandwich

Popeyes chicken sandwich is finally coming back.

The fried chicken chain announced in a press release that the wildly popular menu item will return to stores Sunday, November 3, which is ironically the same date as National Sandwich Day.

"I'm back." The press release simply states.

The announcement comes two months after the initial reveal of the sandwich caused a social media frenzy -- and sold out within the first two weeks.

While the company never specified which part of the product actually sold out, the sudden spike in sales catapulted the brand's earnings. Popeyes same-store sales grew 9.7 percent during the quarter and its parent company, Restuarant Brands International, reported nearly 10 percent growth in its third-quarter earnings and revenue estimates this week.

"This has been the biggest launch in the history of Popeyes," Popeyes America's President Felipe Athayde told Yahoo Finance in an interview. "It’s going to be a cultural phenomenon. We just launched the iPhone of chicken sandwiches," he continued.

Popeyes chicken sandwich will be available at locations nationwide, and the company has hired over 400 employees to prepare for the epic relaunch.
