According to the National Retail Federation, consumers are dropping big bucks to celebrate the haunting holiday. This year, experts predict shoppers will spend an average $86.27, down just slightly from last year’s record $86.79. And out of the 172 million people who plan to celebrate Halloween, $3.2 billion will be spent on costumes.

“Retailers expect to have another strong Halloween season and have stocked up on candy, decorations and the season’s most popular costumes," NRF President and CEO Matthew Shay said.
