Reebok celebrates new collection with pop-up ice rink in NYC

Updated

Last night, Reebok introduced its new Alter the Icons ‘Transparency’ collection with a celebratory one-night-only ice skating event in Manhattan.

Designed to represent our increasingly interconnected world, the collection marks a new level of experimentation for the brand, featuring a remix of their most iconic sneaker shapes through the addition of new colorways, accents, textures and materials.

The dynamic and unexpected urban setting of Reebok’s pop-up aptly reflected the collection’s risk-taking nature. True to ‘Transparency’ theme, a custom ice rink took center stage at the event, surrounded by 360-degree video projections and frozen sculptures that helped bring the ‘Transparency’ vision to life. The event also included appearances from musicians Childish Major, Tayla Parx, and DJs Amira & Kayla, who have all partnered with the Alter the Icons campaign.

Young and gifted skaters from Harlem Figure Skating and Harlem Youth Ice Hockey also delighted the pop-up goers with surprise on-ice performances.

The ‘Transparency’ collection consists of new takes on Reebok’s men’s, women’s, and kids’ Classic Leather, Workout Plus and Club C silhouettes. Each of these classic shoes are stripped down and overlaid with plastic uppers. Through remixing everyone's Reebok favorites with transparent materials, the icon takes on a new dimension.

The FW19 Alter The Icons ‘Transparency’ collection is now available in stores and online at Reebok.com and across the Foot Locker family of brands including Foot Locker, Footaction and Champs Sports, both in stores and online, including Eastbay.com.
