Chipotle is giving away $250,000 to customers on Venmo

The only thing better than scoring free food at your favorite restaurant is arguably being scoring cold hard cash just for dining at your favorite restaurant, and Chipotle’s giving out a quarter of a million dollars to do just that.

Looks like your years of paying extra for guac were not in vain after all!

The fast-casual chain rolled out its long-awaited loyalty program, Chipotle Rewards, on Tuesday and announced that it would be teaming up with Venmo to give out up to quarter of a million dollars on the app to 25,000 customers per day through March 15.

Chris Brandt, chief marketing officer at Chipotle, said:

"Our customers have been asking for a loyalty program for a long time and we're excited to partner with Venmo to reach their highly engaged network of digital-first customers to launch Chipotle Rewards, where the more you Chipotle, the more you can get free Chipotle!"

Customers can submit the phone number that’s linked to their Venmo account for the chance to win between $1 and $500 via the payment app, which allows users to transfer money to one another via credit card charges or bank account transfers.

Users will be alerted if they’re receiving a payout within 24 hours, which will come in the form of a Venmo payment from Chipotle alongside a custom Chipotle pepper emoji.

The premise of the Chipotle Rewards program will be relatively simple — $1 spent at the chain is equal to 10 points and 1,250 will score you a free meal, except on noted extra point days where members will be able to score more points per dollar.

Oh, and did we mention free chips and guac after your first purchase as a member?
