Popular U.S. supermarket, Wegmans, to open its first store in Brooklyn

Updated

Wegmans, one of the top grocery stores in America, is coming to Brooklyn.

The company announced this week that it will officially open to the public in fall 2019. The Brooklyn location has been under construction for years and even released opening dates in both 2017 and 2018.

The massive 74,000 square-foot grocer, which will occupy the historic Admiral's Row in Brooklyn Navy Yard, will be larger than the Whole Foods in Williamsburg and will feature a cafe on the second floor serving food along with wine, beer and spirits. It will have seating for 100 guests.

A store manager has been hired and a hiring office has opened with the intent of filling 500 open jobs the new location will create by February. The positions include entry-level management, customer service, overnight grocery, and culinary roles.

Interested applicants can apply either online or via telephone.
