Every holiday has its unsung hero, and AOL's video series "Holiday Heroes" highlights those individuals who are making a difference in their communities.

Halloween is that time of year when every child wants to dress up as his or her favorite superhero or movie character. Costume Connections in Austin, Texas helps children and families who are unable to afford store-bought costumes do just that, making their imaginations come to life.

Founded by Michelle Burns, the nonprofit started as a small costume drive and has expanded into an operation that provides over 1,200 costumes to children in the Austin area.

"I think what I look forward to most is watching the kids in here," Costume Connections Director Angie Lopez told AOL. "They try on the costumes, they play, they run around and no one leaves sad."
