Lululemon being sued for allegedly letting a sexual predator continue employment

A former Lululemon employee is suing the company for $3 million for knowingly allowing a sexual harasser to work at its stores.

The lawsuit claims the company promoted and relocated a serial sexual harasser to their Santa Monica store location after he was reported to management at another store location. The manager then sexually harassed and assaulted Shayla Famouri, an employee in Santa Monica.

The former worker claims the Lululemon workplace was "the perfect environment for a sexual predator," with sexual harassment viewed as a joke in the workplace.

Famouri had plans to move up through the company after graduating from college, but she claims those plans were squashed when her manager Philip Silva raped her.

Famouri says she felt obligated to go to Silva’s house because she was his subordinate.

When he pinned her down on the bed. She says she yelled, “No I don’t want to have sex with you!”

To which Silva allegedly said, "This isn’t Sex. This is just the tip.”

Then while he raped her, he said: “Now this is sex.”

Famouri claims after speaking with her manager, a Lululemon human resources representative told her that the only option was for her to resign and be eligible to be rehired in the future.

According to Buzzfeed News, the company denies these claims.

Famouri says her main goal through the lawsuit is to bring change and make sure it doesn’t happen again.

Buzzfeed News Confirms Philip Silva is currently working at an Equinox Gym.
