For rent: Natasha Bedingfield’s Hollywood Hills home

A turn of the 21st-century Spanish villa high above Los Angeles’s historic Beachwood Canyon and directly below the iconic Hollywood Sign, owned by English pop singer Natasha Bedingfield and her businessman husband Matt Robinson, has come up for rent at $14,500 per month. Purchased by the couple in early 2015 for $1.65 million and largely obscured behind a low privacy wall and a thicket of mature foliage, the two-story residence was built in 2000 on a .18-acre ridgeline parcel with three bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms in 3,386-square-feet. Subsequent cosmetic renovations to the residence include a substantial lightening of the hardwood floors in the living and dining rooms on the main floor and replacing the wall-to-wall carpeting in the bedrooms on the second floor with hardwood floors to match.

A deep porch with terra-cotta floor tiles has a serene view of the eclectically planted courtyard garden and the step-down living room, large enough to comfortably accommodate a gleaming baby grand piano and flooded with natural light through windows and French doors of three walls, features carved wood beams across the ceiling and a television-surmounted minimalist fireplace. With dapper navy blue paint on the walls and a glitzy brass chandelier, the adjoining dining room also has carved wood beams on the ceiling and French doors along two walls that open the room to the backyard. Polished terra-cotta floor tiles in the entrance hall reappear in the eat-in kitchen that also has carved wood beams on the ceiling as well as slab marble counter tops on bone-colored cabinetry, classic white subway tile backsplashes, a double wide center island with integrated snack bar and a walk-in pantry/wine-cellar.

Two good-sized guest bedrooms on the upper floor, one with slender private terrace and the other with floor-to-ceiling built-in bookshelves and a cushioned window seat, share a Jack ‘ n’ Jill style bathroom while the master bedroom offers a step out Juliet balcony with canyon and mountain views, a windowed walk-in closet, and bathroom with ceramic-tiled double-sink vanity and over-sized shower.

Numerous French doors open the back of the house to a petite backyard with a trellis-shaded dining terrace off the living and dining rooms, a raised bed kitchen garden and a small, flat patch of lawn from where there’s a thrillingly up-close albeit somewhat tree-obscured view of the Hollywood Sign.

Bedingfield owns a larger, decidedly more contemporary residence and guesthouse in the gated and celeb-packed Laughlin Park enclave in L.A.’s Los Feliz area that she bought in July 2009 for $2.3 million and currently has up for sale at $4.495 million, down for its original ask of $4.75 million. The 4,792-square-foot, three-story contemporary, with spectacular open views of the Griffith Park Observatory, has five bedrooms, five bathrooms, gleaming white floors in the open-concept living/dining/kitchen area, a media lounge that adjoins a wet bar with eye-popping tomato red countertops, a deck-surrounded swimming pool and a poolside guesthouse atop a three-car garage.
