Tax payers spent more than $300,000 to send Trump kids on ski trip

An annual ski trip taken by Ivanka and Eric Trump’s families, including son-in-law Jared Kushner, cost taxpayers more than $300,000.

Records obtained by CBS News through the Freedom of Information Act show the Department of Homeland Security spent $329,561 for a week-long vacation to Aspen.

The report states housing costs totaled $195,700. Secret Service officials also spent $26,000 on rental vehicles and reportedly needed ski equipment, which cost nearly $22,000 to protect the family while skiing.

CBS News reports the secret service rented bikes and bought items for the trip at REI and Backcountry.com. Instagram pictures show Ivanka Trump and her husband, Jared Kushner on the mountain.

Both are senior advisors to the president.

This news comes as President Trump’s administration is taking heat for its cabinet officials flying on non-commercial planes.

Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price has resigned after spending hundreds of thousands of dollars for chartering private flights.
