The Kentucky Derby is arguably the most anticipated event in horse racing. Known as "the fastest two minutes in sports," people from all over the world travel to Louisville, Kentucky to get in on the action and wager on some of the speediest horses on the planet.

While people who bet on the event have the potential to earn millions, the jockeys who ride the winning horses take home a hefty paycheck, too.

Velazquez, who has won a whopping 13 Breeders' Cup and and three Triple Crown races, is also the first jockey to ever eclipse the $300 million mark in earnings.
