Check out KFC's newest celebrity Colonel

Rob Lowe might have played an overly excited civil servant and a frat boy, but now he's taking on his most tasty role yet as the KFC Colonel.

While his T.V. speech was inspirational, the real reason behind his new role was downright tear-jerking.

Lowe is doing it to honor his grandfather who was the head of the Ohio chapter of the National Restaurant Association and who took him to meet Colonel Harland Sanders when he was a kid.

The actor will be featured in a KFC campaign for their Zinger chicken sandwich which the brand will literally launch into space this summer.

The KFC U.S. President says he has no idea how the marketing team plans on getting the sandwich to space, but they're confident they will.
