Australians are outraged after it was revealed that the head of the country's postal service was making a whopping $4.3 million a year salary.

Australia Post director Ahmed Fahour resigned in late February after a senate committee revealed his salary, which is ten times that of the Australian Prime Minister!

The Post tried to hide Fahour's salary and now he's on his way out.

He's leaving after seven years on the job and says his resignation is because it is time for him to step down, not because his salary was revealed.

For context, the person who does the equivalent job in the United States makes about $416,000 a year.

The chairman of the Post says it was a mistake not to disclose the salary and defended the "competitive" salary packages as necessary to attract and retain talent.
