Are McDonald's arches giving a subliminal message?

McDonald's is arguably the mother of all fast food chains and apparently their classic arches are supposed to make you think of mom.

This realization comes from the book, Fast Food Nation: The Dark Side of the All-American Meal, and in it there is a story that is making people question why they go to McDonald's.

Is it the burgers or those welcoming arches that kind of resemble a woman's bosom?

The image is intentional. According to the story in the 1960's, McDonald's hired a psychologist to help them with branding and he said that it was important to appeal to consumer's Freudian nature and actually dubbed the golden arches "mother McDonald's breasts."

Don Draper wishes he had thought this up!

While the glowing, yellow M has been updated over the years, the winning concept remains the same. Plus the arches are supersized, just like their meals!
