More Americans shop and eat out on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day than ever before, with millennials driving the trend on both fronts. To accommodate this shift, many stores and restaurants are open on Christmas and Christmas Eve.

Stores Open on Christmas Eve: Target, Macy's and More

Despite Black Friday deals and sales that seem to extend for the month of December, three out of four shoppers are waiting longer to buy their gifts. Of that 75 percent, almost half do at least some shopping on Christmas Eve. Stores open on Christmas Eve include:

Barnes and Noble: Open 8 or 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., depending on location
Bed Bath & Beyond: Open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
CVS: Open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Ikea: Open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Applebee's: Most locations closed, Times Square, NY location open regular hours
Boston Market: Most locations open noon to 6 pm.
Buca di Beppo: Most locations open 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Chart House: Most locations open 11 a.m to 9 p.m.
Denny's: Open 24 hours.
Fogo de Chão: Open 12 p.m. to 9 p.m.
IHOP: 99 percent of locations are franchised and determine their own hours
McCormick and Schmick's: Open, hours TBA
Old Country Buffet: Open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Smith and Wollensky: Main dining room open 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Starbucks: Most locations open 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Although 58 percent of Americans refuse to shop on Christmas Day, according to research from shopping analytics firm LoyaltyOne Consulting, nearly one in five U.S. shoppers want stores to be open on Dec. 25. Stores open on Christmas include:

Albertsons: Most stores open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
CVS: Open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Family Dollar: Open, hours TBA
Rite Aid: Open regular hours, but call your local store to verify
Walgreen's: 24/7 locations retain normal hours, non-24/7 stores open 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are all about giving, celebrating and enjoying time with friends and family. But for many Americans, it's also a great time to finish up some last-minute shopping and maybe grab a bite at a restaurant. If that's you, it's smart to call your local store or eatery to double check their hours on Christmas or Christmas Eve before you head out.
