Taylor Swift dominates Forbes list of 2016's highest-paid women in music
Taylor Swift has been named the highest paid woman in music for 2016 by Forbes, which calculates her earnings at $170 million.
According to Forbes, Swift's haul was mostly down to her 1989 World Tour which smashed the Rolling Stones' North American touring record, pulling in a quarter of a billion dollars. Swift also appeared in commercials for brands including Keds, Diet Coke and Apple.
English singer-songwriter Adele comes in at second on the list with $80.5 million, making the most of her album sales for 25, which resulted in the highest annual earnings total of her career.

Madonna makes the podium at number three, after her recent Rebel Heart tour grossed $170 million. Her total tour earnings over the course of her 30-year career total $1.4 billion.
Last year's highest-paid woman in music Katy Perry, who has been busy campaigning for Hillary Clinton, is relegated to No. 6 on the 2016 list. There is no place this year for the women of Fleetwood Mac, Lady Gaga, Miranda Lambert and Mariah Carey who were all in the 2015 top 10.
