Wal-Mart is starting a new initiative to bring even more holiday cheer this season

Updated

November 4th is upon us, and while that date may not ring a bell in your head, it's quite an important one to remember when it comes to holiday sales.

Though it's not Black Friday, it's around this day that big-name retailers start discounting items for the holiday season.

For Wal-Mart, this includes the addition of some extra little cheer to stores in the form of "holiday helpers".

The job of the helpers is to assist with the checkout process in the midst of the inevitable holiday shopping chaos.

The store announced the following in a press release:

"Holiday helpers, ready with candy canes and smiles, will assist customers with finding the shortest line, open registers as needed and will even quickly grab items customers might have forgotten."

The company is known to hire an influx of temporary workers around the holidays, but this year, it looks like they might just come bearing a little extra holiday spirit.
