'Lucky pennies' worth $1,000 hidden in major cities

CHICAGO (WGN) -- If you find a penny around town, it could be worth $1,000.

100 'lucky pennies' are hiding in 10 major cities across the country.

Those who find them will receive a cash prize of $1,000.

According to the DailyMail.com, 10 of the coins were placed in each of the following cities: Los Angeles, San Diego, Denver, Austin, Chicago, Charlotte, Detroit, Miami, New York and Washington, DC.

The coins are slightly larger than regular pennies with an Ally Financial logo on one side and "100,000 cents" on the other.

The pennies are part of an Ally Financial promotion.
