Top nicknames people give their cars revealed

It's no secret that people love their cars. After all, considering the amount it costs to acquire one -- and then maintain it, a vehicle becomes part of the family.

Perhaps it's no surprise, then, that many owners have taken to adoringly naming their automobile, whether it be an old clunker or brand-new make. And famous cars like General Lee from the "Dukes of Hazzard" and the anthropomorphic Herbie the Love Bug, definitely contributed to the trend, too.

In celebration of National Name Your Car Day, which falls on Oct. 2, Capital One released the results of a survey conducted with car owners -- and the findings are totally intriguing. The survey, administered by the BuyPower Card, which provides earnings toward the purchase or lease of a new Chevrolet, Buick, GMC or Cadillac vehicle, found that one in six car owners name their cars.

What's more, 31 percent said their car's "personality" was the biggest factor in choosing a moniker.
