Sometimes the things we say are completely misinterpreted, especially when we don't know the person that we're speaking to on a personal level.
A prime example of this is when we're interviewing for a new job and we only have one chance to make a first impression on the person who'll be interviewing us.

For starters, it's crucial that you don't appear idle – the interviewer will perceive this as you being lazy or unmotivated. It's good to come off as someone who is busy with several prospects.
Next, be sure not to break one of the most important pieces of interview etiquette in the book and actually remember to bring your resume!

Don't forget to research the company thoroughly and come with questions about culture and specific talking points about the company, but be careful not to start talking benefits too early.
When it comes to talking about your work history and future, don't talk negatively about your last job, and certainly don't talk about aspirations about wanting to go to a different, bigger company sometime in the future.
It goes without saying, but always act professional – don't reveal too many personal details or stories.
Remember, this person doesn't know you, and any joke you make or hint of sarcasm you express can be completely misinterpreted.
Lastly, be honest about your flaws and skills. Your interviewer knows that you have more flaws as an employee other than simply being a 'perfectionist.'
