Huge Golden Nugget Found in Australia Worth a Staggering Amount

A man discovered an enormous gold nugget that is reportedly valued at $250,000!

He found the nugget during a weekend search for gold and coins in central Victoria's Golden Triangle, an area in Australia famous for the quality of gold nuggets uncovered there.

The guy has chosen to stay anonymous for obvious reasons, but the nugget has a name: Friday's Joy!

It weighs a little more than nine pounds, and the prospector said he found another gold nugget that was a little more than half a pound the day before.

He returned the next day to see if he could find more with his Minelab GPZ 7000.

At first, the man thought the nugget was a horseshoe or something, but as he started to scrape away the clay and dig deeper he says, "I was in total disbelief as I didn't think nuggets of this size were still around."

While it was valued at a quarter of a million dollars, a smaller 7.5-pound nugget called Destiny, which was found in nearby Ballarat, fetched nearly $300,000 at auction in 2014.

The world's largest known nugget, The Welcome Stranger, was found in 1869 in the same area. It weighed a whopping 178 pounds before being melted down.

Just imagine the look on their faces if the guy behind this new discovery broughtFriday's Joy to one of those "cash for gold" joints!

A dream by its nature is usually etherial and vaporous, but that is not the case for Bob Van Camp of Paradise. For Van Camp, at least, this one dream is 5.18 standard pounds of shimmering, nearly pure, California gold. For the full story visit: chicoer.com
