AMR Releases September Operating Metrics

For September, American Airlines parent company AMR saw modest increases in its key metrics. The company has released its figures for the month and, for the most part, they're slightly higher on a year-over-year basis. Revenue passenger miles crept up by 1.3% over September 2012's number to hit 10.9 billion. Available seat miles inched up a little more, growing by 1.9% across that period to 13.5 billion.

The total number of boarded passengers also advanced, increasing 1.4% on a year-over-year basis to just more than 8.4 million. However, AMR's load factor (i.e., the average "occupancy" of its planes) was 80.7% last month, a drop from the 81.1% of September 2012.
