IHS Expands Content for its Online Platform, Helping Oiland Gas Subscribers Make Smarter Business Decisions

IHS Connect® combines insight and analytics to help subscribers better understand global energy markets directly from their desktop

HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- IHS Inc. (NYS: IHS) , the leading global source of information and analytics, today announced expanded content and functionality for IHS Connect, the company's innovative market and business intelligence platform.

IHS Connect, launched last year, has been upgraded to include even more critical research, analysis and forecasts, providing customers with enhanced search, filter and charting capabilities. These improvements optimize the value of customers' IHS subscriptions, giving them the tools they need to support their business workflows and making them more efficient and effective in the process.

Among the upgrades to IHS Connect are: expanded content for oil refining, natural gas liquids and petrochemical research and forecasts; upstream and cost research services; global energy mergers and acquisitions, and company valuation databases; and World Industry Services, now including comparative industry forecast and analysis of 95 industries in 75 countries throughout the world.

"Our customers do business in a complex and rapidly changing environment where single-dimension information falls far short of the knowledge needed for making important decisions," said Scott Key, IHS president and chief executive officer. "They need a 'connected' view of the global energy landscape, and IHS Connect delivers. This unique platform gives subscribers the ability - right from their desktop or iPad™-- to discover, visualize and analyze the deep intellectual capital of more than 2,000 IHS world-renowned experts," Key said. "In so doing, our customers explore new perspectives and examine many aspects of an issue, quickly and confidently, in order to develop, refine and stress-test their business strategies."

Designed specifically for the commercial business decision maker, IHS Connect provides an unmatched concentration of information to customers who need to understand global energy markets, when and where they need it, in the office or on the go. Users can seamlessly navigate the platform to find the latest industry analysis, in-depth market research and economic forecasts.

With its "personal dashboard," IHS Connect delivers a 360-degree view of the energy market. Depending on their individual interests, customers can view: global exploration and production (E&P) trends, macroeconomics from a global or regional perspective, regional or country-specific E&P activity, regulatory or fiscal risks, as well as acreage distribution and field operations in an area of interest.

Using IHS Connect, subscribers can also identify companies operating in an area, benchmark competitors, review similar transactions or merger and acquisition activities, and determine or compare costs of potential transactions.

In Brazil, for example, where the country's deep waters are yielding remarkable growth in oil reserves, customers using IHS Connect can quickly determine whether the region has the drilling capacity to bring the oil fields to production and, if not, what the implications will be for oil companies and for the Brazilian economy if oil developments are delayed.

In the data browser tool, IHS Connect subscribers can access global crude oil price forecasts and view demand for refined products in order to determine if they are connecting supply to markets with a stable or growing demand segment. Using the scenario tool, users can adjust macroeconomic indicators to determine upside for potential new investments in the region.
