National builder announces new land acquisitions in the highly desirable East County Cities of La Mesa and Lakeside
SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- KB Home (NYS: KBH) , one of the nation's largest and most recognized homebuilders, today announced that it recently acquired land for two new solar home communities in east San Diego County. Model home construction at both La Mesa Meadows in La Mesa and Canton Hills in Lakeside is expected to begin in August, with grand openings scheduled for the fall. A special preview center for both communities is now open at the Grossmont Shopping Center in La Mesa. Home shoppers can get a sneak peek at the communities' layout, floor plan offerings and design choices, and sign-up for a VIP interest list.
"We're very pleased to have secured these two prime parcels of land in one of the county's most popular areas where there is a limited number of new home communities," said Steve Ruffner, president of KB Home's Southern California division. "In addition to offering home shoppers the chance to live in a truly 'A' location, they will also be getting the ultimate in value and choice in the form of a new Built to Order KB home with solar included."
Plans for La Mesa Meadows and Canton Hills come on the heels of a successful grand opening for KB Home's Haciendas and Vistas at Rancho Santalina communities in San Marcos, which is also home to the builder's first net-zero energy concept model home in San Diego County. La Mesa Meadows and Canton Hills will join over 20 KB Home communities in Southern California where solar power systems are included as a standard feature of all new homes. The 1.5 kW standard systems are expected to help homeowners save as much as 30% on their energy bills when compared to a typical resale home.
La Mesa Meadows and Canton Hills both offer easy access to area freeways for commutes into downtown San Diego for work and play. San Diego's beautiful coastline and beaches as well as plentiful shopping, dining and cultural attractions are all within a short drive. Canton Hills residents can enjoy entertainment and a variety of retail and dining at the nearby Santee Town Center.
Both communities will offer a variety of home designs ranging in size from 2,598 square feet to up to more than 4,000 square feet. Floor plans will include up to six bedrooms, five-and-a-half baths and three-car garage options. Nearly all aspects of the new homes can be customized thanks to KB Home's Built to Order™ approach that empowers shoppers to make a wide array of choices about their home's design and functionality. The models at the communities will showcase just a few of the thousands of design options available to homebuyers at the KB Home Studio, where a personal design consultant can help them create a home that is unique to their style and taste.
The KB Home experience is further distinguished by the company's commitment to sustainability and building energy-efficient new homes. In addition to including standard solar power systems at these two new San Diego-area communities, every new KB home is ENERGY STAR® certified and includes WaterSense labeled faucets and fixtures, which can potentially translate into significant savings for homebuyers on their monthly utility costs.
