Proofpoint Beats on Both Top and Bottom Lines
Proofpoint (NAS: PFPT) reported earnings on July 25. Here are the numbers you need to know.

EPS came in at -$0.07. The six earnings estimates compiled by S&P Capital IQ forecast -$0.09 per share. Non-GAAP EPS were -$0.07 for Q2 against -$0.08 per share for the prior-year quarter. GAAP EPS were -$0.06 for Q2 compared to -$0.21 per share for the prior-year quarter.

For the quarter, gross margin was 70.2%, 250 basis points better than the prior-year quarter. Operating margin was -16.5%, 300 basis points better than the prior-year quarter. Net margin was -6.5%, much better than the prior-year quarter. (Margins calculated in GAAP terms.)
Next quarter's average estimate for revenue is $32.7 million. On the bottom line, the average EPS estimate is -$0.07.
Next year's average estimate for revenue is $129.8 million. The average EPS estimate is -$0.34.
