CMS Energy Increases Sales but Misses Estimates on Earnings
CMS Energy (NYS: CMS) reported earnings on July 25. Here are the numbers you need to know.

EPS came in at $0.29. The 11 earnings estimates compiled by S&P Capital IQ forecast $0.31 per share. GAAP EPS of $0.29 for Q2 were 22% lower than the prior-year quarter's $0.37 per share.

For the quarter, gross margin was 16.5%, much worse than the prior-year quarter. Operating margin was 16.5%, 390 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. Net margin was 5.7%, 180 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. (Margins calculated in GAAP terms.)
Next quarter's average estimate for revenue is $1.69 billion. On the bottom line, the average EPS estimate is $0.56.
Next year's average estimate for revenue is $6.56 billion. The average EPS estimate is $1.65.
