Air Products & Chemicals Hits Estimates, But GAAP Results Lag Last Year's

EPS came in at $1.36. The 20 earnings estimates compiled by S&P Capital IQ predicted $1.36 per share. GAAP EPS of $1.36 for Q3 were 40% lower than the prior-year quarter's $2.25 per share. (The prior-year quarter included $0.59 per share in earnings from discontinued operations.)

For the quarter, gross margin was 26.4%, 130 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. Operating margin was 14.4%, 250 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. Net margin was 11.3%, 940 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. (Margins calculated in GAAP terms.)
Next quarter's average estimate for revenue is $2.69 billion. On the bottom line, the average EPS estimate is $1.47.
Next year's average estimate for revenue is $10.26 billion. The average EPS estimate is $5.50.
