NBCUniversal to Relaunch '80s, '90s TV Shows As Comic Books
Some of the best-loved TV shows of the 1980s and 1990s will get the reboot treatment -- as digital comic books. Comcast's NBCUniversal and St. Louis-based publisher Lion Forge Comics both announced they are joining forces to produce digital comic versions of five high-profile shows from that era: the youth-focused sitcoms Punky Brewster and Saved by the Bell, as well as the more adult-tuned crime procedurals Miami Vice, Knight Rider, and Airwolf.
The comics are planned for distribution in the second half of the year and will be sold in popular e-markets and formats such as Amazon.com's Kindle Store and Apple's iBooks.
