Shangela ‘can’t get out of drag in the right way’ without this one product: 'I love it'

Our team is dedicated to finding and telling you more about the products and deals we love. If you love them too and decide to purchase through the links below, we may receive a commission. Pricing and availability are subject to change.

In Last Thing You Bought, celebrities and tastemakers take In The Know through some of their most recent purchases.

Shangela has been grinding it out as one of the hardest working entertainers in show business for the past decade. The drag superstar made a name for herself through appearances on three seasons of RuPaul’s Drag Race and has since solidified herself as one of the world’s preeminent drag queens in the world.

Shangela has continued entertaining her captive audience despite much of the country being quarantined for most of the year. In Paris, Texas at her childhood home, Shangela opened up to In The Know in a recent interview for our podcast, We Should Talk. She also took part in our Last Thing You Bought franchise, taking us through her most recent lockdown purchases, including the one product she can’t get out of drag without.

Listen to our full interview on We Should Talk with Shangela below, and keep reading for her latest online buys:

Last thing you bought on Amazon:

“The last thing I bought on Amazon was a juicer. I bought it for my mom, and we had a really good time with it at my house in Paris, Texas. My mom has been slicing up carrots, and my friend taught us how to use beets. It’s a lot of work — and a lot of cleanup work — but it’s well worth it because it’s juice!”

Last thing you bought off of Instagram:

I bought a drag dress off of Instagram. You know how sometimes they figure out what you like, and then all of a sudden, it’s in your feed? Somebody is listening! That said, the dress came, it did fit and it was nice. [Laughs]

Last book you read:

It was sent to me by Nicole Byer, who is a friend of mine. She has a new book called #VERYFAT #VERYBRAVE, which is a beautiful, good read.

Last thing you bought that’s now part of your daily routine:

The last thing I bought that’s now part of my daily routine would be this bandana [that I’m wearing]. I’ve been really enjoying this snatched-back look. I’m into bandanas right now, and there was this 20 for $5 thing, and I bought them. I will now put on a bandana and live in one every day. People are really tired of seeing me in a bandana, but I like them.

Last beauty product you bought that you can’t get into drag without:

It takes me about two and a half hours to get into drag, so there are a lot of products that I can’t get into drag without! But, I will tell you a product that I can’t get out of drag without. That’s Neutrogena makeup wipes. Baby… I’m so thankful! You cannot beat the way that they stay moist even when you’re traveling with them in your little case. I love it. I can’t get out of drag in the right way without them. There are lots of great products out there, but if I use something else, my skin feels so dry.
