Britney Spears opens up about childhood struggle she still faces: 'I wasn't pretty enough'

One of the most iconic child stars in recent memory, Britney Spears, opened up about feeling “ugly” when she was younger in an emotional Instagram post.

The singer was just 16 years old when her hit song “…Baby One More Time” skyrocketed her to fame.

She confessed that a few years before that, she struggled with her self-esteem.

“I stopped having bangs in the 3rd grade and I remember like it was yesterday …. it was such a big deal to expose my forehead,” she wrote in her post. “All the beauty pageant girls did it but I never felt beauty pageants were my thing.”

Spears said she met with a modeling agency in her youth, but they told her she “wasn’t pretty enough.”

“I had bad teeth and felt like an ugly duckling,” she wrote.

She said she likes having bangs now because they help her feel like she’s “protected.”

“Almost like I’m in 3rd grade again,” Spears confessed.

Her fans were quick to show support and thank her for opening up.

“Girl you’re stunning, the prettiest woman alive, like hello? You’re BRITNEY SPEARS,” one user wrote.

“Queen of intimate details! Love when you share pieces of you! We stan a humble queen,” another said.

Even the princess of pop has her moments of weakness — here’s hoping her authentic posts inspire others to find strength in their faults.
