Social media users ‘mind-blown’ by actual lyrics of No. 1 hit song: ‘Keep listening’

TikTok is a nearly endless source of knowledge.

Whether it’s users discovering hidden symbols in each other’s cars, or learning the “real” way to close up cereal boxes, the platform is never short on “today I learned”-type moments.

Now, the video-sharing platform is teaching many people that, to their surprise, they’ve been singing the country’s most popular song totally wrong.

“Say So” by Doja Cat featuring Nikki Minaj, is currently the No. 1 song on the Billboard Hot 100, is now also the subject of a viral video in which a TikTok user named swoopys “reveals” its actual lyrics.

In her clip, the TikToker shares that, despite many users believing the track’s opening words to be, “Didn’t even notice,” the line is actually, “Day to night to morning.”

“Y’all I’m about to get my mind blown,” the user says at the start of the video, which has been viewed more than 10 million times.

It was a sentiment shared by countless other users, who commented with their complete confusion over the lyric.

“Broooooooo I swear everyone thought that… CRAZYYYY,” one user wrote.

Other users were quick to point out, however, that the words “didn’t even notice” do appear later in the chorus. Several commenters speculated that the confusion stemmed from the fact that most TikTok videos featuring the track begin with those words, rather than the song’s actual intro.

“Because there’s two parts of it. Just keep listening,” one user advised.

“The line everyone is talking about IS didn’t even notice, there’s two parts to the chorus y’all,” another added.
