This season of “Vanderpump Rules” has been a tough one for Kristen Doute.

The original cast member of the Bravo hit’s friendships with fellow “Witches of WeHo” Stassi Schroeder and Katie Maloney are seemingly up in the air following their fallout during the show’s current eighth season.

In scenes that proved to often be "not so much fun," Stassi and Katie gave Kristen the cold shoulder this season because, as they said, they couldn’t handle her continually getting back together with her on-and-off ex, Brian Carter.

By the end of this season, the rift grew so wide that Kristen wasn’t invited to Katie’s second wedding in Las Vegas or Stassi’s engagement party. During a recent interview with In The Know’s Gibson Johns, Kristen said that it was "frustrating" watching the season back and having to relive all of those tough moments.

"I didn't have a great summer. I had a hard summer. So watching it back, and I'm like, 'Oh, god. There I am crying again and being upset again,'" Kristen said. "I'm glad that's all over and done with and I'm not in that space anymore."

She also revealed that things have not improved between the three former best friends, despite her attempts to reach out with goodwill.

“It pretty much has gone right back to what you’re seeing on the show. I’d say from the time the summer ended, we definitely had a huge break of not really communicating at all, because we finally didn’t really have to talk about it and be around each other. I think we all like to take sort of a minute, once we’re done filming, to ourselves,” Kristen explained.

“Between September and now, there have been moments, [though.] Anytime I hear something positive going on in one of their lives, whether or not they’re going to respond isn’t the point. But I always send a text out, like, ‘Stassi, congratulations on your podcast tour,'” she went on. “You know, things about her book doing really well or what have you, buying the house with Beau, and just, ‘I’m still thinking of you, and I’m so proud of you,’ and blah, blah, blah.”

Listen to Kristen's thoughts on the "frustrating" state of "Vanderpump Rules" this season:

“Katie and I communicate slightly about the wine, or we did. And I think once the show started airing and we were all now getting to watch how we’re talking about each other and what our experiences were, like, it’s very easy to be selfish and feel only your own feelings,” Kristen told ITK. “I think that it’s just made it so much worse than it was. So we’re right back to square one.”

Making her fractured relationship with her longtime friends all the more difficult is the fact that, like viewers of “Vanderpump Rules,” Kristen isn’t even totally sure why they started fighting to begin with.

“I’m watching every episode with the viewers trying to come to some peace moment with what happened with the girls and I, and I still am not totally sure,” she said. “I feel like the answer’s changed as three or four episodes go by. First it was like, ‘Kristen and Carter sort of toxic, and she said they’re broken up and they’re clearly not, and we don’t want to be around because it’s really hard for us.’ OK, that I can understand, right? But then, all of a sudden it has nothing to do with Carter. So what does it have to do with?”

While the “He’s Making You Crazy” author has found solace in feeling support from fans as this season aired, Kristen also made sure to note that she doesn’t want them to drag Stassi and Katie on her behalf — that’s not what she wants.

“I am really appreciative of the viewers and the fans of the show. I don’t want anyone to be knocking the girls. It’s not what I’m asking for. It doesn’t make me feel better,” she explained. “But people just really understanding my point of view on it has made it a lot easier for me to go through it.”

As for getting a clear answer on what Stassi and Katie’s true issue with her was, the James Mae co-founder said that she hopes one comes to light during the upcoming reunion, which Andy Cohen recently confirmed was taped virtually.

“That’ll be, hopefully, hit home and we’ll all get some kind of answer [for] me, the viewers, everyone,” Kristen said.
