Disney’s new documentary is a behind-the-scenes look at Baby Yoda and ‘The Mandalorian’

If you’re going to be stuck at home, it helps to be stuck with Baby Yoda.

And that’s a quarantine treat “Star Wars” fans will get on May 4, when Disney Plus releases its all-new documentary on “The Mandalorian.”

The eight-part series promises to go behind the scenes of the hit show’s first season — Baby Yoda, bounty hunter droids and all.

According to the Verge, new episodes will be released weekly, with each one focusing on a different aspect of the series. There will also be plenty of interviews with the writers, actors and directors behind the show — including Jon Favreau and Taika Waititi.

It’s no coincidence that the documentary airs on May 4, a date many fans know as “Star Wars Day” (as in, “May the 4th be with you”).

“‘[The documentary] is an opportunity for fans of the show to take a look inside and get to see a different perspective, and perhaps a greater understanding, of how ‘The Mandalorian’ came together and some of the incredibly talented contributors throughout Season 1,” Favreau, who created the series, said in a statement earlier this month. “We had a great experience making the show and we’re looking forward to sharing it with you.”

The documentary will precede the series’ second season, which was originally slated to air in October. However, it’s not clear if that date will now be changed due to the crisis, according to the Verge.
