Former “Bachelor” Peter Weber defends mom after on-air tirade: 'That’s the love of a mother'

Peter Weber has spoken out to defend his now-infamous mother after she verbally sparred with his former love interest following the season’s dramatic finale.

On a recent episode of “Bachelor” alum Nick Viall’s podcast, “The Viall Files,” Weber defended his mother Barbara’s treatment of contestant Madison Prewett on “After the Final Rose,” which drew widespread criticism from fans of the show.

“That was tough,” the 28-year-old pilot said of watching the pair verbally spar. “Listen, my family in general, they’re my rock. I’ll defend them ’til the day I die. I love them more than anything. They truly just want the best for me.”

“In regards to what occurred on stage, you know,… could [my mom’s] delivery been different? 100 percent,” he added. “But where that was coming from was a place of pure love. That’s who my mom is. I respect the hell out of my mom. To be able to speak her mind and not feel the pressure to cave in to a certain narrative on live-television, in front of millions of people… that takes a strong person. That’s the love of a mother.”

Barbara made it abundantly clear on the show that she preferred Hannah Ann “BRING HER HOME” Sluss over Prewett as a partner for her son.

Although Sluss, 23, and Weber initially got engaged on the show’s finale — after Prewett, 24, walked off due to her views on premarital sex — the two quickly split up, as Weber decided to pursue Prewett instead.

While Weber and Prewett discussed their relationship on live TV with “Bachelor” host Chris Harrison, Barbara presented herself as somewhat of a villain, saying her son would “have to fail to succeed,” before prompting her husband to “say something bad, too,” about her son’s current love interest.

Mere days after the show aired, Prewett and Weber announced they’d called it quits on both of their respective Instagram accounts.
