Selena Gomez reunites with Miley Cyrus for moving chat about mental health

Former child stars Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez reunited for the first time since they "spent all that time on Disney together” for an enlightening conversation about mental health.

Since Cyrus began social distancing, she has been hosting an Instagram show called “Bright Minded,” which has featured appearances from stars like Reese Witherspoon, Hilary Duff, Demi Lovato, Elton John and more.

Gomez, the show’s latest guest, opened up about how she’s been keeping her anxiety at bay while social distancing and revealed she was recently diagnosed with bipolar disorder.

“Recently, I went to one of the best mental hospitals in America, McLean Hospital, and I discussed that after years of going through a lot of different things, I realized that I was bipolar,” Gomez told Cyrus. “So when I got to know more information, it actually helped me. It doesn’t scare me.”

The two singers said they reconnected after years apart when Gomez left a single butterfly emoji in the comments section of one of Cyrus’ Instagram posts.

“And that’s enough, connecting with people and letting them know that you’re there. A butterfly emoji is totally enough.” Cyrus said. “Send me butterflies any time. When all this has moved on and we can connect, we’ll just hug.”

The two singers urged those not taking social distancing seriously to think of the people who are “sacrificing their lives.” They also encouraged viewers to donate to organizations on the frontline of the global crisis.
