John Krasinski hosts mini ‘The Office’ reunion with Steve Carell
Just as his character Jim Halpert brought us constant joy with his pranks on “The Office,” John Krasinski is now serving up “Some Good News.”
In his new YouTube show, the actor is highlighting heartwarming stories to lift our spirits throughout our time social distancing.
He gifted the internet with a mini “The Office” reunion for his first episode.
Krasinski and Steve Carell, a.k.a. Michael Scott, virtually reconnected to celebrate the hit show’s 15th anniversary.
“I was a waiter when I got that job, I was 23 years old. After the pilot, I went back to waiting tables because I was sure nothing was going to happen with it,” Krasinski said. “We all kind of came into it with that vibe. I remember none of us had done anything huge.”
Carell agreed that the show’s massive success was “pretty cool.”
“It’s such a happy surprise that after all these years people are still tuning in and finding it today,” he said in the video.
The pair reminisced on some of their favorite scenes from the show’s nine seasons.
“I remember when we did the episode where you played Santa and were very upset that Phyllis was already Santa. So you were asking people to come sit on your lap and Brian [Baumgartner], thank God, was chosen to sit on your lap,” Krasinski recalled about one season’s Christmas episode.
“I was supposed to be the button of the scene where they cut to me and make a Jim face. I was never there, I was physically never there because by the time they got swish pan to me, I was out. I was either on the floor or I left the room,” he added.
Carell reflected on one of his favorite episodes as well — when Krasinski’s Jim Halpert impersonated Rain Wilson’s Dwight Schrute.
“Part of what was so much fun about it was that everybody in the cast was rooting for everybody else. People would step back when it was time for people to shine and celebrate it. When you came in as Dwight that day it was crazy watching Jim do Dwight,” Carell said. “You were a very good impressionist in general, I don’t think people know.”
Krasinski noted that the scene in which Michael Scott leaves the show was the “most emotional I’ve been on set.”
“Some of the most fun memories, personally or professionally, are intertwined and connected with that show,” Carell said.
“Without a doubt. Listen I know everyone’s talking about a reunion, hopefully one day, we just get to reunite as people. And just all get to say hi,” Krasinski agreed.
“Just to see your face is so great. I miss you a ton man,” Carell told Krasinksi. “I really think you’re going to make something of yourself.”
Fingers crossed, these two get to reunite in person as soon as social distancing guidelines are lifted.
