Jessica Simpson names her favorite look from her headline-making book tour

Jessica Simpson broke numerous records with the release of her memoir, “Open Book,” earlier this year, but it was the outfits she wore during her accompanying book tour that perhaps made the biggest statements.

Simpson, 39, fully embraced her return to the spotlight, stepping out in a variety of headline-making styles that had us all clambering for more: A head-to-toe pink look that channeled Elle Woods from “Legally Blonde”? Check! A red snakeskin dress paired with matching boots and oversized sunglasses? Yep! A chic black look that accentuated her post-baby figure? Of course!

In a recent phone interview with Simpson promoting her work with Keebler and Make-A-Wish, In The Know’s Gibson Johns asked Simpson about her approach to her book tour style, where she revealed that a lot of the key pieces actually came from her existing wardrobe.

“I worked with my stylist Nicole Chavez, and we didn’t have a lot of budget or anything like that, so we really went through my closet to find things that I hadn’t used or brought back that I’d used before,” Simpson explained.

And, rather unsurprisingly, Simpson revealed that they had a lot to work with when it came to what she already had in her closet, so much that her business manager tried to curtail her shopping habit. Once her fashions started to get written about in a ton of different outlets, though, it was Simpson who had the last laugh.

“I obviously love fashion, and my business manager said that I spend way too much money on clothes, so I was sending my business manager the looks and the press they were getting just to let him know that all of my purchases were for a very good reason!” Simpson laughed. “I always say that when I buy something that it’ll have its moment. It might be five years from now, but it’ll have its moment. And, throughout this book tour, they definitely had their moments.”

While all of Simpson’s “Open Book” ensembles were notable in their own right, ITK had to know: Which one was Jessica’s absolute favorite?

“It’s hard to pick a favorite, because they’ve all been so good,” she said. “For sure my very first moment in the all pink was me coming out with a bang. That was just a moment on my book day release, so it’s an outfit I’ll never forget. [But] all of the New York stuff, really, was on point.”
