A-list celeb talked Emily Blunt out of becoming a pop star

Imagine a perfect world: the sun’s always shining, the birds are always chirping and Emily Blunt is a pop star.

Sadly, that last part will never become reality — but years ago, it nearly did.

In an interview on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” Tuesday, the actress revealed that she nearly became a musical sensation.

Blunt admitted she took dance lessons and even recorded a few songs.

“I don’t want to tell you too much because I feel like someone is going to find these songs,” she said on the show. “Do you want to know the name of one of them? ‘Ring It Up.’ It will never see the light of day.”

The actress, who has starred in movies with a musical twist like “Into the Woods” and “Mary Poppins Returns,” said she struggled with dancing — but people assured her that could be corrected.

“I could have been Britney [Spears],” she joked.

So what made her focus solely on acting?

Blunt told Jimmy Kimmel that at the same time she was trying to launch her music career, she was in a play with iconic actress Judi Dench.

“I went to her for advice because I was really, really nervous about this career,” Blunt said. “And she was like, ‘Oh no, darling. You can’t do both. You can’t act and do that.’ She talked me out of it.”

Though she doesn’t have any hit pop singles to her name, Blunt is still wildly successful — “A Quiet Place Part II” premieres this month, and the trailer for her upcoming movie “Jungle Cruise” just dropped.

Blunt’s rise to fame, in spite of her abandoned music career, just goes to show that talent, hard work and advice from Dame Judi Dench can go a long way.
