'Will & Grace' stars pay tribute to Shelley Morrison after Rosario actress' death

"Will & Grace" stars took to social media to pay tribute to Shelley Morrison after news broke that the actress, who played Rosario Salazar on the hit NBC sitcom, had died at the age of 83.

Morrison died on Sunday, December 1, of heart failure after a brief illness, her publicist told AP. The actress' character, who worked as a no-nonsense maid for Megan Mullally's character, Karen Walker, was originally only supposed to appear on one episode of "Will & Grace," but Rosario was such a hit with viewers that the show kept her on for a whopping 68 episodes airing from 1999 until 2006.

Though Morrison didn't appear on the current reboot of the show due to her retirement, she still holds a special place in the hearts of the "Will & Grace" family, and the show's four stars took to social media to honor her life and legacy.

"just got a bulletin on my phone that shelley morrison has passed. my heart is heavy. putting shelley, her beloved husband walter & their children in the light," Mullally wrote on Twitter. "thank you for your friendship & partnership, shell. you accomplished wonderful things in this world. you will be missed."

"Oh, Shelley... what a loss. Our dear Rosario has passed on," Debra Messing, who played Grace, wrote on Instagram alongside a clip of Morrison on the show. "Shelley had a career that spanned decades, but she will always be our dear Rosie. She was a kind soul with a huge heart and always had a smile on her face. All my love to Walter and the entire family."

"Such sad news. Our beloved Shelley Morrison passed away today," Sean Hayes, who played Jack, captioned a photo of Morrison as Rosario. "She was absolutely hilarious and had the biggest heart. She was a part of our Will and Grace family and will be greatly missed. My heart goes out to her entire family."

"Shelley was a beautiful soul & a wonderful actor. Her work as Rosario, season after season, was as nuanced and real as it was hysterical," Eric McCormack, who played Will, tweeted. "She will be missed by everyone at #WillandGrace, she’s a huge part of it. Sending so much love to Walter and Shelley’s whole family. #Rosario"
