Reba McEntire unexpectedly reveals she and her boyfriend have called it quits

Reba McEntire is a single lady.

The country artist shared the news with Us Weekly while responding to a question about her holiday plans, unexpectedly revealing that she and her boyfriend of two years have called it quits: "Skeeter and I broke up in May, so unfortunately we will not be spending that time together," McEntire said.

The "Spies in Disguise" star added, "We still talk and we're friends but just decided to go our separate ways."

McEntire and Anthony "Skeeter" Lasuzzo, a retired oil geologist, met in 2017 while on vacation in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Lasuzzo is a widower whose wife passed away from breast cancer in 2013.

The two made for an outdoorsy couple, McEntire told People, saying in April that they enjoyed nature-oriented activities and that they were "totally in love — absolutely. I wouldn’t put up with somebody for two years if I wasn’t in love with ’em!"

The romance began two years after McEntire and her ex-husband, Narvel Blackstock, finalized their divorce. The former couple was together for 26 years, and they share a son, race car driver Shelby Blackstock. (McEntire was also stepmom to her ex's three children from a previous marriage, including Brandon Blackstock, who today is married to Kelly Clarkson.)

McEntire spoke candidly about the split in 2016, telling CMT, "Well, the divorce was not my idea. I didn't want it in any shape, form or fashion. So it was really hard to make the adjustment when someone's not happy."

She continued, “I prayed every day to help me have the strength to move one foot in front of the other and to continue on with what I’m supposed to be doing and why He put me on this Earth in the first place."
