One of the Duggar children of '19 Kids and Counting' is running for office in Arkansas

A Duggar president could be on the horizon.

Probably not. But the possibility just became slightly more likely with an announcement from one of the brood: 20-year-old Jed Duggar has announced his candidacy for Arkansas state representative, touting his "conservative values" on the ticket.

“I am a Christian and I will stand up for religious liberty," he said in a video posted to Instagram this week. "I am pro-life and will be an advocate for the unborn, and I will always defend our Second Amendment."

He also noted that among his top objectives are combating the opioid crisis and promoting job growth.

Jed is the tenth of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar's nineteen children. Although some of his older siblings were already engaged or married by age 20, he is single at this time.

According to the bio on his official website, Jed has some entry-level government experience and is the owner of a local used car dealership.

The Duggar siblings often interact with each other on social media, where most of the older children are very active and consistently post life updates. "It's so fun to see you now as a wife and mother," Jed captioned an Instagram birthday post for older sister Joy, who is 22 years old.

Although they've mostly maintained a clean public image, the family has been dogged with some controversy over the years, particularly in regard to Josh Duggar. The 31-year-old father of five has admitted to previously molesting five girls, including two of his sisters, and he was also exposed as a user of Ashley Madison, the now-defunct web service for men looking to cheat on their wives.
