Miranda Lambert endorses Carrie Underwood for CMA Entertainer of the Year: Read her touching post
Miranda Lambert endorsed Carrie Underwood for Entertainer of the Year ahead of this year's CMA Awards with a touching Instagram post.
The "Tin Man" singer, who has been nominated for the CMAs' biggest award three times throughout her career, paid homage to each of this year's five nominees -- Keith Urban, Garth Brooks, Eric Church, Chris Stapleton and Carrie Underwood -- but put her weight behind Underwood, who has never won the award and has remarkably only been nominated one previous time.
"I realize with the chill in the air that it’s getting closer to Nov which means my birthday month and @CMAawards final voting time," Lambert started. "Entertainer Of The Year is the big one So I’m gonna share my two cents."

Lambert then shared complimentary words about the male artists nominated for the award, before encouraging her followers to vote for Underwood.
"Carrie- The Entertainer Of The Year. Because... Currently being on tour with all female artists, I’ve been thinking a lot about all the work that goes into what we do. The most amazing job in the world. But it ain’t for the faint of heart," she wrote. "@carrieunderwood is on an all female tour too. The Cry Pretty Tour 360. She put out her first single in 2005 and from then on country music was changed for good."
"That iconic voice has been classin’ up our stages, charts and televisions for a decade and a half," Lambert went on. "The Voice. The legs. The songs. The brand. The mom. The wife. The okie. The Jesus lover. The blonde bombshell that is Carrie. She blows me away every time I hear her sing. She never wavers in who she is or what she stands for. She has stayed true & pushed herself to be better."
"If you have never heard her sing 'How Great Thou Art' do yourself a favor and listen," she finished. "I have her back in this picture and I’ll always have her back. So for the sake of sequins, spanx and spray tans, take it home! You Carrie the torch!"
Lambert and Underwood have been friends for years, and they collaborated on the 2014 duet, "Somethin' Bad," which won the CMTAward for Collaborative Video of the year.
It's worth noting that the Entertainer of the Year category at the CMAs has historically been dominated by men: In the past 20 years, the award has only gone to women on three occasions: Dixie Chicks in 2000 and Taylor Swift in 2009 and 2011. Since 2015, only three of the category's 25 nomination slots have gone to women: Two for Lambert and one for Underwood.
The winner of the 2019 CMA Entertainer of the Year will be announced on Wednesday, November 13, when the 53rd annual Country Music Association Awards air live on ABC at 8 p.m. EST.
