2019 Global Citizen Festival: Everything you need to know about the star-studded evening

On Saturday, over 60,000 people united at Manhattan's Central Park for the annual 2019 Global Citizen Festival, where world leaders were honored for their efforts in the mission to end extreme poverty by 2030.

This year's star-studded event, hosted by Hugh Jackman, was headlined by Alicia Keys, Pharrell Williams and OneRepublic. "Bohemian Rhapsody" star Rami Malek introduced Queen with Adam Lambert to close out the night with some of the band's most iconic songs such as "We Will Rock You," "We Are The Champions," "Somebody to Love," and more.

Other special performances included the legendary Carole King, who performed "Where You Lead" alongside Kelly Clarkson, as well as French Montana, H.E.R, Ben Platt, and Jon Batiste & Stay Human.

Leonardo DiCaprio shocked the crowd with a surprise appearance for a powerful speech on the climate movement, where he introduced three young leaders to the stage - Alexandria Villaseñor, Xiye Bastida, and Selina Neirok Leem.

Laverne Cox also took the stage to pay tribute to pioneering AIDS nurses, while Natalie Portman called upon the crowd to sign her petition to help wipe out three diseases that affect the world’s most vulnerable people by 2030.

Taraji. P. Henson, Katie Holmes, Dakota Johnson, Rachel Brosnahan, Anna Kendrick, and Chris Martin were just a few of the other big names who showed up to voice the need to take action. Check out photos from the powerful evening in the gallery above.
